A.  Purchase a domain name.

• What is it?
  A domain name is what people type in to locate you.  Every entity on the internet has a domain name similar to www.domainname.com.  Ours is www.thecreatechsolution.com.
• What should I choose?
  Choosing a domain name is not as easy as it once was.  There are companies that purchase logical names and hold them until someone comes along willing to pay the high price tag they’ve affixed to it.  You should definitely chose a name that is reflective of your business.  If that is taken, try adding ‘online’ (such as www.linasalononline.com) or something similar.
• How much is it?
  Purchasing a domain name varies. At the most, it shouldn’t cost anymore than $12 for a year.
• Where do I get it?
  I recommend seeking a host (Item B below) that will register the domain for you.  My second recommendation is Go Daddy.

B.  Select a web host

• What is it?
  A webhost stores your website and makes it visible to the masses.
• How do I find one?
  There are virtually hundreds of hosts out on the market these days.  One we use and highly recommend is ‘Dreamhost‘.  The monthly fee is low, and the features are great.  Most importantly, on the few instances when things have gone awry, the support was always prompt in responding.

C.  Create your website!

• Hosted Site Builders & Templates
  Many web hosting companies offer pre-installed templates of some sort.  These are sufficient for ‘just getting online’ and for ‘do it yourselfers’.  Of course, I do not recommend doing so.  Your business is far to important to be doing experiments with.
• Hire a professional
  Spend some time thinking your website through, including what you’d like to have on it.  Look at websites of business similar to your own and formulate a list of what you’d like to have on your.  Then seek out a trustful designer to build it.  Ask friends, request quotes, and just ask questions!
